George Soros' vision for CEU's new School of Public Policy and International Affairs

Central European University Founder and Honorary Chairman George Soros discusses his vision for CEU's new School of Public Policy and International Affairs (SPPIA) with Associate Director of the Open Society Foundations Leonard Benardo. The school will welcome its first students in 2013 and held its inaugural conference, "The Future of Public Policy Schools in the 21st Century," this April.

CEU Annual Report Published

See CEU's 2011 Annual Report, with special sections on the University's 20th anniversary, a new five-year strategic development plan, and a four-page fold-out on mission and values. With the theme "We Are CEU," the report features the faces of more than 200 students, faculty, staff, and alumni, and tells the stories of 20 representatives from those four groups.

Research Focus

Scholars Rethink Responses to Hate Speech

Peter Molnar, senior research fellow in CEU’s Center for Media and Communication Studies, co-edited a book on hate speech that is being published this month. In The Content and Context of Hate Speech: Rethinking Regulation and Responses, scholars analyze hate speech and its effects and consider potential responses, including criminal-law bans and punishment.
